I've completed 30 compass roses. Now I have to begin working on the scale bars. I appreciate the input on every thing so far. I won't be doing black and white designs for now but have tried to vary the designs so that there might be something for everyone. I'll also fix that one scale bar that is obviously confusing because of the texture I used for it.
Ohhhhh seeing that skull one, gave me an idea. A Jolly Roger one. Skull with no jawbone. The main bones could be the 4 principal winds that are not Cardinal directions. Then like finger bones could make up the others. Just spit balling.
Thanks for the encouragement and input. This is taking a bit longer to get right than I expected, but I'll see what I can do to add a few more of the suggestions. 😊
Drawing animals isn't my strong suite so I went with straight AI generation to see what it would give me. Here's a cat compass for all of the cat lovers. LOL
I once did a village map with four versions, one for each season. You have here different compass roses that would well represent Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Love it!
Take this with a grain of salt because I know time is limited and you’re focusing on scale bars, but if time permits, a compass with the four elements would be cool. Traditionally, air in the east, fire in the south, water in the west, and earth (gemstones?) in the north. But again, I know time is precious and absolutely not pressuring you. What you have already is fantastic.
@Don Anderson Jr. , how is this for the skull and crossbones? One with entire skull, the other with missing jawbone.
I'll continue to play with ideas for a nautical theme. The test one that I posted up thread is of course far too complex for a small compass rose, though I may clean it up and include it anyway. It might make a decent map decoration or something.
My 2 faves thus far are the skull compass rose (with the engraved rose on the forehead) - very Moorcockian/Warhammer-ish and the 'compass' compass rose on the previous page.
Excellent all of them.
@Ricko Your one above also floats my boat - I like my fantasy dark and grim.
Beautiful work - but no metric text - I find it nearly impossible to work in metric. And imperial is only for USA and partly UK. Please add metric text to this, not just miles.
Sorry there is no metric Quenten. I just made the art, and at a guess, Ralf worked the miracle of making it all into an annual with text and instructions and everything.
Hope Ralf adds metric. I can fix them by exploding, editing the text, then regrouping, but it would be nice if @Ralf had added metric as well. The art work is AMAZING - already used some in my own maps. Thank you for these, @Shessar

They are gorgeous. I have no problem with the scale marks on the bottom scale, but I do on the second example.
Where are the DOG (definitely not cat) compasses? LOL

These are awesome. Definitely something for every mood and vibe. My favorites are the two dragons in the upper right.
Yea that many Compass Rose's will give so many options.
Excellent work.

Love them. Any chance of a few nautical themes?

I have to agree with Quenten, something with a nautical theme would be awesome. And I also see you haven't done the cats yet ;-)
This is just a very rough draft and nothing close to being finished, but is this what you mean by nautical themes?
NO CATS. Do dogs instead. 🐩🐕️ LOL 😈
I know, Shessar. Cats are difficult. I must owe Remy about a hundred by now.

If you made it a cat, you also have to make it a dog lol 😅
I totally agree, Ricko. Us dog lovers feel neglected. LOL
That's bleeping awesome.
And now released into the Wild, looking thoroughly stunning! Amazing work, as many here have already noted, Shessar!
They're lovely, Shessar. Congratulations, and thanks very much :)
They are absolutely lovely and I can’t wait to use them all. Some of them are inspiring me to do a map specifically to showcase that compass rose.
@Shessar Magnifique! And I'm not even French!

Maybe Ralf will talk about it in the Live tutorial, but I didn’t think you needed to explode, just ungroup? I will try to test in the morning.
