Hello, I'm a complete beginner using CC3+ having just purchased it through the recent Humble Bundle. My son and I will claim the two buildings outlined below, and enter them into the competition as separate entries.

    Here are my floorplans!

Located close to one of the bridges this small Inn (drinks and food from a window and two spare beds for hire) has a natural position. One might even say it helped its owner, an old widow, to get rich (aka stay out of even worse poverty!). Somehow they refuse to be in the right order, but hey!

  • I like the idea of this place. Just a few suggestions:
    1. Two of the three barrels near the front door should be moved somewhere else to avoid tripping drunk customers.
    2. A cellar with a trap door might be a good place to store stuff. It might even have a secret passage to the sewers.
    3. Instead of one double pane window on the ground floor, two single pane windows on different walls might be better to illuminate more of the floor area during the day.
    4. Put a stovepipe through the wall behind the stove to let the smoke out.
    5. If the cots on the second floor are for guests, the bedroom should be separated from the main area by a wall and door rather than a curtain for safety and privacy.
Add a bit of back story and it would be perfect.

  • I'd like to claim this one. I probably won't be able to get it done before the deadline (though I'll try), but I've got an idea for it I'd like to develop anyway.

  • Hi everyone,

I'm a total beginner in CC and new to the forum but I decided to challenge myself with this competition to get to know you and the software better.

To keep it simple, I would like to claim this little building here on the left (hoping to have the time to get it done before the deadline).

    Thank you so much.

    I'm late! Oh dear.

I'm also pretty crazy, so I've picked one of the largest remaining buildings - the Town Hall and Tax Office.

Still about a week left of the competition, which means it is still enough time to pick and map a building (plenty of small ones available if you want to do something quick).

I'll also point out one thing to everyone planning to submit their map to the atlas too (hopefully most of you). The atlas has it's own navigation bar off the side of the map, so I do not need that little navigation box CC3+ makes for multi-floor maps in the lower right corner. Because I usually need to rename the map files when putting them into the atlas, the links in that box will be broken anyway, so I'll just have to delete it. So I would be pleased if you just remove the entire box (including the hidden hyperlinks (view -> Show Hyperlinks to show them)) before you hand in the map or at least keep in mind how the map will look when I remove it. Thanks.

I'm going to move mine to one side of the map. It's useful when working on the different levels in quick succession.

  • Well, not sure this is my best idea of all-time, but if things allow, I'm going to have a try at this little property in the city's southeastern corner:

Weirdly, I noticed it's a tiny version of the same building that Sue's currently mapping, albeit quite by-chance! It will be for the Atlas eventually, regardless of whether I make the contest deadline or not. On the latter deadline point, we shall see!

    @Wyvern claimed:

Weirdly, I noticed it's a tiny version of the same building that Sue's currently mapping, albeit quite by-chance!

So, just wait until Sue hands in her entry, then rotate and scale it down, and presto, instant contest entry...

@Wyvern LOL! Whoever is doing building number 1 is in for a bad deal.

Here is my entry - Vertshusen Town Hall and Tax Office

5 levels, but no map notes. Since this is one of the municipal buildings in the city I decided to leave it to you to make up your own stories about this setting.

    Hope you like them!

    Good luck everyone :D

(The FCWs have been handed to Remy for the Atlas)

    Jenin River Whiskey Distillery.

Ready or not here is my entry into the contest.

I will give Remy the fcw files after I finish a few things I want to do for the atlas which I could not do for the contest. (extra Buildings)

Here are the map notes that will be going into the map when submitted.

    History:

    Jenin River Whiskey Distillery

Started by two brothers making untaxed whiskey just outside of town and selling it to the local town’s people, decide that after their product became in high demand and years of dodging the local tax collector and law they would move the operation into town. They purchased an old warehouse and converted it into a distillery. The building design presented some unique challenges for the distilling process. They decided the east wing would be the drying kilns on the first floor and the grain and water storage on the second floor where they would also produce the mash.  The first floor of the southwestern section of the west wing was turned into the distilling area where the mash is fermented, distilled and condensed into the whiskey. The remainder of the first floor of the west wing was setup for shipping and deliveries. The second floor of the west wing is the whiskey storage and bottling area.

They decided early on that the building was too small for the furnaces to be on the main floor so had them built in the unused basement. A unique design but one that has worked for the operation quite well to date.

Business expanded and the brothers decided to purchase the three outer buildings around the distillery. The building to the north was a pub and still is but is now own by the brothers as a showcase for their product. The building to the northeast is now the shipping and delivers area for ground transportation. The building to the south was a small smithy and the brothers bought the business and hired the smithy to repair things as needed and produce barrels for the whiskey storage.

Thank You to everyone that helped make my maps better.

Well, it's time to post my entry.

    I chose The Southern Gatehouse:

    And this is my entry:

For those wanting to zoom in further, I'm putting one image per floor in the WIP thread, and this same image (with a better resolution) in my gallery. And if you still want more resolution, I'll be handing the FCW to Monsen for inclusion in the atlas. Which leads me to my next question:

How is everyone else sending their FCWs to Monsen? Post in the WIP thread? Private message?

EDIT: Ah, I found the answer myself:

You can post this with your entry, or send it to me later.

  • Hi everyone, here's my little and humble entry:

    "Johnny Carp's Shack"

    ---

This shack is where Johnny keeps some of his stuff for his hobbies and work. What work? What hobbies? Nobody thinks to have the right answer.

He also use the upper floor as "hideout" when he thinks it is best not to come back home from time to time.

It's been a while since Johnny was seen around. What happened?

I guess I'll have to just let these load slowly over time. Otherwise I wont be able to see them.

  • Yes, it's coming up to that time isn't it? So here's my final version of Cloven House, firstly with the secret cave hidden, and then revealed:

This will be winging its way to Remy for the Atlas shortly, with its text and PDF notes, but in case anyone might be interested, the PDF description is here as well, should anyone wish to be "enlightened" further on the nature of this haunted house:

Okay, in the eleventh hour but I finally finshed my entry: number 5, the arena.

I wanted to do something wild, so I did an eclectic mixture of styles and colors: CSUAC2 and Dundjinni for the general view, Inked dungeons for the simple plans, Isometric for the relevant rooms. A couple of scale bars, different typographies and effects. Everything made in different fcw files and Multiplied together, with Color Key used to fix the tiny imperfections here and there. Enjoy!

  • Hi everyone!

Here my map for the Atlas: The Blue Rose Tavern. First a view of the marketplace where the tavern is located

Then a map (you can open it in CC3+!) with all the floors together:

Then the single floors from the top to the bottom:

(Basement and cave have the torch lit here!)

Finally a detail of the sigh on tavern sign on the outer wall (I don't know if it can go in the Atlas. in any case anyone is free to use it. It is not done with CC3+, so don't consider it for the votes! I cheated with Midjourney for doing it!)
