Torshem - remake of an old RPG map

ClerconClercon Betatester Traveler
I got inspired by Ralf's remake of the lone wolf map so I decided to try to do a remake myself. First of all I was interested in how hard it would be and how long it would take. Surprisingly the actual work was very quick. When you have something to look at while drawing a map and you don't need to make up things on the way everything seems to go much faster. So here it is, a remake of a map of the area Torshem from an old swedish RPG called Drakar och Demoner. The original map you can see here: http://rpgfalun.faluit.com/-Nabhiere_Reborn/-Books/Osorterat/_Kartor/Torshem.jpg

  • Its not the most complex map I have ever seen but it looks good to me.

Thanks Henrie61. This was actually the players map (well the original map was) so only the things known to the players are displayed. In the adventure there were also a black and white map with a lot more details.

Nice! How did you create the tower-in-the-mountain effect at Kvisur kan?

The tower in the mountain effect is an included symbol in the style. So you can attach it to whatever mountain you like. So you can say it's just drag and drop :)

Wow! I really need to start playing with that style.

    Thanks,

  • How did you do the banner at the top? I want to include this in my map using this style. Thx.

@Modric (and anyone else whos interested) - Well I made it myself an used Photoshop to add it to the map. So it is not included in the style. But if you want to use it I've added it to this post, so feel free to use it however you wish. Merry mapping and a happy new year :)
  • Thanks Clercon!

I don't really understand what you mean with varicolour, please explain.

A varicolor symbol is a symbol that changes color based on what color you choose in CC3's color bar, so that you can get the image in any coloration without having to produce one version of the image for each color desired. To provide a varicolor version of any image, it needs a separate png file to be used as a varicolor mask. This entire procedure is detailed in the Tome of Ultimate Mapping if you have it.

Well the banner is just a png file, I've never added it to CC3. So if someone feel like making a varicolour file of it feel free to do so.
      • Thanks for sharing Clercon!

Here's a catalog of this Banner as well as a few others I have hanging around. (Yes Mateus, Varicolor included. :D )

Unzip directly into your CC3 folder. Symbol catalog will be found in CC3\Symbols\Other

        Enjoy!
