Not much progress I am afraid. Real life is interfering with hobby time. And besides, two other maps, world of warcraft and a new idea for yet another map also keep me busy.
@Moskva. The hedges are just rows of the smallest tree symbol.
Did you use a macro for that? I've tried to get symbols in a line using a macro but I can't get it to work.
One of the annuals contains stuff about macros and one of those macros does exactly what you just asked. Even if he did not do it that way, there is one to do it. JSM
This looks awesome. The only thing I would quibble with are the neat and tidy rectangular fields in the SW. At this scale I guess you could argue that even if there were more irregularities to it on the ground, it would appear this way from above...but, I really like what you did in the NW and wondering why you didn't continue that tradition in the south
In fact, I like the diversity in the fields, and the contrast between what feels like very old orchards in the north, maybe even pre-dating the city, with an artisan look&feel, and the big crops in the south, more modern, more organized, almost an industry. The north feels like a place to live for self sufficient farmers, the south like a place to work for people of the city.
That turned out fantastic. My only quibble is I don't care for the colored border but I can't find anything else about it that I don't like. Well freakin' done!

All in all I am pretty happy with it.
Of course a next time I will do things different.

But thanks for the inspiration. Withouh you I think I would have done no moat :-)
Its not easy to put in a moat once you've already done the city. Mine wasn't perfect either but redrawing all water again is such a hassle.
Need a bit of color :-)
