Can shadow length be tweeked for individual objects?

I would like to have the shadow of taller buildings be, well, longer.

Would I have to put 2 and 3 story buildings on their own new sheet to do this?

Exactly. I normally only have to sheets, one for small to medium height buildings, one for higher ones.

That's the usual way.
SYMBOLS,FLAT -> no shadow
SYMBOLS,ONE STORY -> normal shadow
SYMBOLS,TWO STORIES -> greater shadow
SYMBOLS,THREE STORIES -> even greater shadow

The only other way I see is designing the shadows as entites... Tricky if at one time you decide to change the sun direction...
