Recommend a style or tutorial for world maps?

I have allmost all Anuals and looking for a good style for realy big maps (11.000 miles by 8.000 miles). I tried a few but most sheet effect are optimized for around 1000 Miles width and had no effect at all on the map (at least no visible effect). Can someone recommend a style or tutorial for world maps?

For large maps, the default Mike Schley or CC3 Overland styles work fine.

It is true that many map templates are optimized for 1000x800 map units, but all you have to do for a 10000 map is to go in and multiply the effect distances by 10.

I recommend using percent of drawing extents width for effects units for overland maps, as they scale with the map, but unfortunately not all templates have been set up with this, requiring manual tweaking. More about effect units in this article.

The World Map and continent maps from the community atlas are pretty large, and mostly done in those styles.
