Here is the beginning of the biggest city I have ever done - with probably close to 1 million inhabitants.

I used the following address in the address line - you can change the Parameters, and delete if you want a random name.
    http://fantasycities.watabou.ru/?size=12&seed=1060975055&hub=1&name=Thour&random=0&citadel=1&plaza=0&temple=0&walls=1&shantytown=1&river=1&coast=1&gates=6

Make sure your settings in Watabou are as follows:
If you press space bar, it will give you the number of buildings.
The settings for export as a SVG are as follows:
    Style: Palette - color only.
    Annotations - compass only
    Thin lines should be checked
Buildings: You MUST select No Stroke. I also like Tight, No triangles and Complex
Towers - whatever you like - I chose round for this map.
    Water - uncheck everything
Layout: Choose anything except Elevation and random.

First the Watabou map. The map as downloaded is just over 4 MB (reduced in size for this forum, of course), the SVG is 16.8 Mb and the DXF is 157 MB!
Let us see how I go!

Now for the map translated into CC3+ using the Annual guide - the towers are not added, nor anything else. It took nearly 1.5 hours to get to this stage, mainly because of the time CC3+ took to do the Drawtool stuff for the FIELD FURROWS (>30,000 entities), and CITY BLOCKS (119,825 entities). But at least i got there. The CC3+ file is now a mere 10.4 MB (ha!)

I'll put up the large version when I have done the towers, roads, city background, fields and forest today. I can see that this will make doing mega-cities super quick by comparison of my large city of Dun Fingolfen.

That's an amazing size compared to the average CC3 city!

One thing I notice about Watabou cities is that they have a few little quirks. You get the city, but you also get strange thick borders down either side of the river. Still, I suppose that's a minor problem to correct considering the amount of time it would have taken to draw the rest of it without this annual ;)

This is addressed in the annual, and also by clicking off isometric in the rivers section

    LOL!

I can see that I need to buy the annual.

I'm just waiting for the timing to be right - to see how much the tax man is going to sting me this month. I'd look a fool if I bought the annual and then discovered I was that much short of being able to pay my tax bill ;)
  1.
I tried to do one this size. I REALLY want a better computer!

My poor old laptop just couldn't handle this much.

Here is a small detail. i am busy with the gigantic task of filling in the fields - I am using solid fills rather than bitmaps. (not sure if this makes a difference - can anyone tell me?)

And yet so easy and quick to do with this annual and watabou's City generator (a free programme)

I already know about Watabou. Sanctuary City started life as a Watabou city.

I just haven't got the annual yet ;)

This is fantastic Quenten! I'm not fond of doing cities (i.e. I never make cities) so I'll use this annual a lot. Thanks to you for making the first converted map from Watabou and to Ralf for streamlining the process.
