    Lovely map :)

(sorry - I can't think of more to say right now. I'm having a giggling fit at the names all over again)

Dalton, the http address I use is:
    http://fantasycities.watabou.ru/?size=199&seed=123456&name=Whatever you like&hub=1&random=0&citadel=1&plaza=1&temple=1&walls=1&shantytown=1&river=1&coast=1&gates=5
    0=off, 1=on
    &size - size of city - small =5-10, medium =15-25, large = 30-50
&seed - number that determines shape of city - you can delete this to get random seed, or change number yourself
&name - you can delete this to get random names, or change it to whatever you want (Quentenburg is the best name)
&hub - turns features on and off
&random - randomizes all features that follow
&citadel - puts big building as 'castle'
&plaza - add large open space near centre of city
&temple - adds a large building adjoining the plaza
&walls - adds walls around city
&shantytown - adds lots of smaller buildings outside walls, or central city
    &river - adds river
    &coast - adds coast
&gates - specify number of gates - this needs to be added each time if you want specific number, otherwise it is random

Options are fairly straight forward - try them all and see. I have listed above the desirable options when preparing it for the CC3+ conversion

Further info can be had at https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator

    [snip]

I copied and pasted the above address into the address bar with size=199 and it hung up. When I reduced the size to 50 a map was generated (after a short delay) but when I changed it back to 199 my computer crashed (the “BSoD” showed a “MEMORY MANAGEMENT” error). When I rebooted and turned on my browser (Edge) the pages came up as before but the “Medieval Fantasy City Generator” is still hung up. Size 100 just worked (if a bit slower than 50) but 150 has not (yet). Is there a hard maximum to this value (or the “gates” parameter)?

I have no idea about a maximum or what Quenten have been able to achieve, but I just generated a 250 sized city here (Using Firefox). Takes almost a minute to generate though.

Edit: Setting script timeouts in Firefox to 10 minutes allowed me to generate a size 550 one, with some patience, and about 7GB of memory consumed. Note that I had my building size set to 'Block' (set it BEFORE you generate a large city), this makes a huge difference. For a city of that size, block makes the most sense anyway.

I used size 199, with block turned off. I might try size 400 with Block on and no farms. I need a really big city (size of Constantinople at its height) for my capital city of Jhelrosis in my world of Myirandios. I'll let you know how I go

Does the number of gates determine the number of roads generated? Also are there fields for switching “Farm Fields” or “Elevation” (or any other) options on and off? I’m thinking of the “Options -> Layout” menu but any fields to set the “Options -> Style” menu options would be welcome too.

It doesn't really look that gate number affects roads to any great extent. The only options are what is there as far as the http is concerned - the rest you do in the generator itself. methinks I will have to write a user friendly tutorial on Watabou generator.

It seems to me that there must be at least one road for every gate into the city. Can a city have &gates without &walls? Also a “user friendly tutorial on Watabou generator” would be a very good idea! 8D (It would be nice if the Watabou algorithms could be licensed to Profantasy to upgrade the random CITY command. ;) )
