This is the start of a new city map I'm working on as an example for the Domes issue in the 2018 annual.

Below it is a zoom on the centre of the map.

    It's lovely as always!

One thing that I think you could look at is the black outlines of the cliffs. They seem a bit heavy in comparison to the outlines in the city part. Of course it's still early in your drawing process, but I thought I'd mention it.

    Thank you, Ralf! :D

LOL! I had to shut it down without saving last night because I couldn't get the cliffs to go right at all. I might do a bevel after all (which I was trying to avoid because that would probably mean 7 separation sheets as well as 7 cliff levels). We shall see how it goes today - but I agree that the cliffs just aren't working at the moment. I could do them the way I've seen done on the FB page, but that would be stealing a new technique from a relative newbie, which just wouldn't be fair - and retrospectively, since this is for the 2018 bonus issue.

I'll get them to work. Don't worry :)

Ok. I stole the new technique!

The cliffs are now done in Hans Anders Bergstrom's new Tiger stripe style, and I've more or less finished everything north of the river.

This is an extract of the map showing just the completed part.

Just amazing. And the cliff style is Just what I need for my maps - any chance of sending a link - I cannot find one.

I believe that Hans made a tutorial, which may be available over on the FB Group document page, or a video he linked to. I can't remember now. I never actually read or watched it, but copied what I saw in his maps by the way he described what he was doing.

I don't feel great about stealing his technique, but it was just exactly what I needed to make this particular map work out ok.

Here is the other side of the map. It's more or less finished now. Just a couple of residential blocks to do in the extreme south.

    Thanks, Quenten :)

Thought I think it's lost quite a bit in the 60% reduction. The same map posted on the FB page is a lot sharper.

For anyone who wishes to examine the FCW for this map, thanks to some speedy work by Ralf Schemmann it is now available as a separate download from your account page listed as CA144A Example Map in the 2018 annual downloads.

Thank you so much for setting this up, Ralf! :D

Oh! I nearly forgot. This is the finished map. It's too wide for the labels to be legible at the standard 1024 px, so this is it shown at Cartographer's Guild.
