What to Look for When Buying A Slow Cooker

Slow cookers with top reviews are known as some of the most favorable electrical appliances available for simmering foods at a temperature that is lower than baking, broiling, and frying. They are an excellent convenience for soups, stews, pot roasts, chili, and other delicious dishes like desserts. They are also globally usable.

However, there are a few factors you should take into account when deciding to purchase this well-loved product:

Size

A lot of slow cookers are available in 500 ml (17 ounces) to 7 l (7.5 quarts) and up. Most come with a liquid limit recommendation and shouldn’t be filled to the top with fluids. This has to do with to what extent the heat is controlled.

Heat settings

Many have low, high, and medium settings, and for some cookers, a ‘keep warm’ mode is available. While some have adjustable power, others have no controls for temperature.

Cleaning

It’s effortless. You can wash the inner pot easily by hand while some other parts – for example, the lid – can go into the dishwasher. Use soapy detergent to wipe down the housing, rinse, and then towel dry.

Cost

It depends on the features, the material it is made from, and its size. Also, refer to the best Amazon product reviews so that you can be sure whether its quality stacks up to its price. You can save up to 50% on groceries when buying cheaper cuts of meat as well, as they will cook with a delicious flavor. If you are diabetic, vegan, or vegetarian, you will save a lot of money preparing dried beans which don’t need soaking.

Energy saving

It also means dollars saved with slow cookers. In case you don’t know, a 250-Watt slow cooker can save you tons of money, as they don’t fire up your oven, which draws 4000-Watts of power. You can also save more money by using the leftovers for the children’s and your lunches.

Easy slow cooking

All you need to do is layer in your food, set the cooker for the desired time, and wait until it’s ready for you to eat.

Storing your crock pot

You can store it in the refrigerator with the lid on top. Make sure you allow it to warm up before heating so that the ceramic doesn’t crack or break. Read the instruction booklet for the directions.

What to cook

Most slow cookers will cook vegetables, granola, oatmeal, couscous, and meats; some will cook desserts. You also can cook rice with them, but remember that when cooked, it doubles in size. If you use one cup of dry rice, the appliance will deliver up to two cups’ cooked rice.

Overall

Slow cookers provide a fantastic convenience for those who enjoy home-cooked meals but are on tight schedules. These small appliances have evolved for years to include timers and better designs, but their functionality has remained the same. Read the necessary information above before you shop for your favorite from a wide range of Amazon products.

So, if I understand you correct, you'll want the entire map to change scale, right, you don't just want a new grid with a different scale (i.e. 4 times as many grid cells)?

If so, the easiest is probably just to re-scale the units. Go to File --> Drawing Properties --> Drawing Units. Then double whatever number is in the Inches per unit field, make sure Rescale is checked, and click ok. If you now measure your grids with the distance tool, they should be 10 instead of 20.

You can also leave the units alone and rescale the entire map by using the Scale command on it (I recommend non-visual scale, which you find by right clicking the Scale button). To do this, first make sure all layers are unhidden and unfrozen, and all sheets are unhidden, and when the command asks for a selection, simply hit a for all, and for the scale factor, enter 0.5. More details about this option in this blog article, check the "Rescale the entire map" section near the end. There is also a command you can download from there to make it easier to do this procedure.
