Scale Font

I am working on a map, and I'm trying to use a scale from an annual issue I have. The font goes back to some kind of 'straightforward' serif font, and the Change Properties button does nothing at all. Even when I change the font, it doesn't actually change.
P.S. - I'm having some sort of glitch with the Parchment Maps scale - for some reason, I can't find a way to set the scale to the units (5 kilometers instead of 50, for example) I want.

    Text entities can only use fonts that are referenced from the current map. You'll need to hit Text Specs image and add the font required to the list. CC3+ falls back to the Arial font if the desired font don't exist.

    To change text in a symbol that isn't exposed as an attribute, you need to Explode imagethe symbol as this gives you access to the basic components.
