    Okay, so I'm mapping a rather large metropolis for my books, and I wanted to know if there was a way to hyperlink the map key to zoom in on specific areas of the map. I'm not sure how to go about doing this. The city is so large you can hardly tell anything (besides the grandness of scale) when it's zoomed out in full view. The only way I could think of would be to zoom in to all the various districts and then save them as separate maps, THEN have the hyperlinks direct them to the separately saved and zoomed maps files.

    Is there an easier way to do this? A macro where they can click the district name on the map key and it zoom in to the targeted district? I'm trying to avoid having to send tons of separate little maps to friends and my agent that it would require if I had to save zoomed sections of my city map and hyperlink it that way.

    Thanks,
    Rics

    ZNAME is your friend here.

    Zoom to somewhere.
    View->Windows->Name Window
    Accept the default (Current view), then give it a name

    Then, make a macro hotspot that says:
    ZNAME my_view_name;

    *dances* Thanks a ton! That is soooo much easier than the hyperlinks to other files.

    It is a nice feature. If your maps gets too large however, you should consider breaking them down anyway, but with ZWIN, you don't have to break them down just to show predefined zooms.

    The map itself should only have around 7 districts to zoom into. It doesn't really seem too much larger than some city maps I've seen...just a lot of detail. If it looks too cramped when I'm finished I might save the individual districts and then take out some of the detail and just save an overall city map. If my publisher lets me share the map I'll post it here.

    Sounds good. I love looking at what other CC users make.
