Putting a 5' Square Grid on Map

I am attempting to put a 5' Square grid on my dungeon map.
I have the tome of ultimate mapping and I am following it BY THE LETTER and DD3 is not responding in the same manner as it is written.
I have no idea what I am doing which is why I bought the Tome of Ultimate Mapping in the first place.
It has a step by step instruction which I like. I can follow those.
Attached is the relevant page.
Essentially, step 44. When I hit "D" to finish, I am supposed to get the "Change Properties" dialog. I don't. It asks me to "Copy from Point" again.
Any help would be deeply appreciated, alternatively, a different method to get my 5 foot grid on just my mapped components would be welcome as well.

Edit for Clarity: I am trying to put Grid Lines on ONLY the floors.

In case anyone is wondering, step 44 should be:
Click the "Change Properties" button.
I don't know why it said to select "Copy" again, but it isn't necessary.
Then hit "P" for Prior Selection.
Then do it.
That worked.
