Problem with borders going wonky

Hello, I've been adding some political borders to my map and for some reason, as I click-draw the borders, a line will often jump well away from where I clicked, as shown by the two spike in the attached picture.
Anyone know how I can prevent this? It takes some work to fix.

That's weird.

The first thing to do is check that you don't have either "Snap" or "Attach" active at the bottom right of the screen.

Snap will snap new nodes to the snap grid. Attach will seek to attach the new node to nearby nodes (within limits).

Thanks, Loopysue! That seemed to do the trick. Every time I click the borders line tool, the "Attach" button is on.
Turning that off seems to fix it.

Automatically enabling attach is a property of the tool. Usually attach mode is a good thing, but there are cases where it snaps to somewhere weird. You can edit the drawing tool itself to turn of attach mode for it if you want.
