Change Properties button Issues

I have done something that has changed how this button works and I don't know how to get it back to what it should be. When I rightclick on it and select Change Properties it asks me to "select a layer" not the option to select an object to change. Any ideas on how to get this command back to what it should be.

Your select method have changed. Sometimes happen if a macro crashes or is aborted halfway through.

You can change it back by typing SELBYD on the command line and hit enter, or through Tools -> Options -> Select Method -> Dialog or Popup

Further note. If I start a new map, the button works as it should. But if I then open the map with the issue, the "select a layer" problem is back.

If it is a map-specific problem, it's best either post the map here, or send it to me at tech support so we can take a look.
