Remember that an overland map unit usually represents 1 mile. So if you wanted a bit of room around that land mass you could start a map that was about 3000 x 2000 map units in size. Also remember that it isn't impossible to alter the size of a map by using the scale function.

Horizontal Width: 2,680 miles. Vertical Length: 1,582 miles.
