Now that I've uninstalled the old CC3 I have been going through my old maps to make sure that they are updated and have no missing fills or textures and that everything is pointing to the data directory. I have several old, old maps that are missing two symbols. The symbols are named 'Decid Tree DK' and 'Decid Trees DK'.

All indications are that they were originally in the Symbols\Maps\CC3\Vegetation catalog. This makes sense since these maps are from a time before the annuals and use the original CC3 style.

I've done a search on my entire data directory and not found them. I used these symbols in multiple maps so they have to have existed. I have no memory of what they looked like.

Were they lost in the transition to CC3+? Were the names changed at some point? Does anyone have these pngs? If you still have CC3 installed would you check for me?

I'll reinstall CC3 if needed to get them again. I just need to know if they still exist somewhere.

    Thanks for you help!

They are nowhere to be found in my CC3+ install. Sorry I'm not helpful.

Maybe they were uninstalled along with the app when you uninstalled CC3?

(wild guess, since I never bothered to install CC3. Only CC3+)

    Thanks for checking LordEntrails.

Thanks Sue, I almost certainly removed them during the uninstall. But since I believe they were originally part of the CC3 symbols, they should have been included with CC3+. I'm trying to find out if anyone who still has CC3 installed actually has them or if they were lost/renamed somewhere along the way. :)

This is a screen shot of all the similarly named tree symbols in CC3+ (note the path I used - I don't have a CC3 folder in Symbols)

Which means it wasn't carried forward, or if it was it was renamed.

(looks like I chopped off half the list at the top, but believe me - it just isn't there)

Those symbols are not in my CC3 installation directory, which is a rather complete installation with everything CC3. So I am pretty sure those are not official ProFantasy symbols. Did you perhaps make your own variation of the trees at one point (perhaps a minor color shift, as I assume DK stands for Dark) and just stuck it with the rest of the symbols.

I don't see it in my CC3 install, and I have everything. I searched all of Maps -> CC3 and got no match found. Could this be a symbol/png not from Profantasy ?

Well, you know, that is highly likely. These maps were from my earliest days working with raster symbols. I may not of had the sense to put them in their own folder and catalog. Maybe I'll dig through some of my older backup to see if I still have them. If not, I'll just replace them with the official symbols.

    Thanks for the help everyone!

I did a quick search over all the old installation resources and nothing showed up, i.e. they must have been custom-created symbols.

    Thanks for checking Ralf. :)

Let this be a lesson to all CC users. Do not put your custom made symbols into the ProFantasy folders. They belong in the User Folder or one of your own making. Putting them in the ProFantasy folders will guarantee that ten years from now, after you have long ago overwritten those folders, you will forget what you did and you will no longer have those custom symbols. What I am trying to say is, don't be a dumdum like I was. :D

I checked my SMAC files as well, in case files had been deleted from yours, and there were no such files there either. Sorry I couldn't help.

Thanks for looking Old Guy. I'm now pretty sure that these were symbols that I had made and are now long gone.
