Modifying an inserted file

Hello,

I can't figure out how to edit the path of a file i inserted in my drawing. The thing is i changed the location of the insered file and i want to specify the new location. I am sure there is a way to do that but can't figure it out.

Thanks for any help.

Pat

  • If you want to move an entity, including an inserted file, you just need to use the MOVE command.
    What am I missing?
  • Hi DarrenHill,

I don't want to move the entity in the drawing.

When i insert a file in my drawing, CC3 is just referencing that file in the drawing, it's not really there. What i have done is move the referenced file on my hard drive and now when i load my drawing, i get a big red X instead of the PNG i was referencing as a background file to trace over. I'm looking for a way to change the path of that referenced PNG file because CC3 is not looking at the right place anymore, since i moved the file.
  • Ah, I should ahve read your first post more carefully. :)
According to the help files, the Numeric Edit command should allow you to change the path (type "Edit" and select the picture), but I've just tested it and it doesn't seem to be working for me. How about you?

What you could do, is use the ID command and select the object's lower left corner - that'll give the coordinate.
Then delete it, and insert it again from the new path using that coordinate.

Or you could move the file back to where CC3 thinks it should be, just temporarily till you finish tracing it.
  • Hi Darren,

It doesn't work for me either. And what i've done is replace the file and deleting the old one.

This might be a bug though. I hope someone at PF sees this.

The numeric edit works perfectly if you have inserted the image with the PICT command, but if you use Draw->Insert File to insert the image, it doesn't work. This is indeed probably a bug when inserting images via the latter option.

While Profantasy staff does read these boards, the bug has a much higher chance of being picked up if you submit it directly to Profantasy. You'll find a tech-support form on your registration page
