Adding numbers to a Scale Bar

I forgot to put in the scale bar at the start.
I have a list of scale bars in the window that also shows other symbols I have used.
When I select the scale bar I can place It where I want it but I cannot get it to have a 0 at the start and a 100 at the other end (100 miles being the length I want).
The size of the scale bar is correct when I measure its length.
Where am I messing up ?

I recommend setting the alignment to Top Center, and using Ortho when placing the text to get a good alignment to the scale bar.
