Here is the western most point of the strip of maps I have been doing in the local area style for the Dunor Valley. I have uses a few symbols from the Wild West and Here Be Monsters annuals.
Spot the mermaid.

I see even the compass rose has been wrecked by the rocks. A deadly area indeed! And that poor giant squid, fleeing in terror from yet another ravening mermaid, has crashed into a ship itself!

Glad you picked that up about the compass. originally an error, but i liked the effect. And you are right about that poor squid - caught between a rock and a hard mermaid.

The symbols from the two styles you borrowed from fit well with the Local Area style.

And someone needs to watch out for that mermaid -- she's a killer!

Does anything more need to be done to this? Otherwise, map notes in progress and off to Monsen, with a bottled mermaid.
