This is Bleak Town, and Grendal's General Store. Building 3 on the first map is the store.

The Adventure web site site navigation menus up to date.

Note that Brendal is no relation to Grendal. :-)

I like the John Speed city style, but any reason you went with green trees and bushes? They do look a bit out of place, and the style does come with it's own trees.

I also love the floorplan, I like the more schematic vector style, but why do you need such a large waiting area for a general store? (Or one at all for that matter)

Bleak Town has some bright spots in it, the green trees. Its very much like its name. Not a nice place, but the mayor has tried to pretty things up a bit by placing nice trees in the center of town.

The waiting room is where they sit while their orders are being put together. The two small windows are where they pay, and then the characters go to the sales and display room to pick up. Its also cracker barrel type place, people sit and talk about their adventures, etc.

The comfy chairs are over in the sales and display area. The uncomfortable wicker chairs are in the room with the fireplace.

    edit, fixed a typo.

Brendal's General Store. The trees are nice and green. The fir tree is in full, but is gray. A possible question for the characters to solve. 60% of 1200 pixels.

And here is a possible adventure area. A keep that once was between the settled good area and Bleak's Forest, an evil area.

Human and monster skeletons, a barrier that once blocked the entrance. Half-dead trees, but not undead ones. Mold growing in two rooms, and a hidden under the stairs area just to the left of the room number 11 for that room. The glow in room 3 could be good or bad.

And the second map is Bleak's Forest. The small broken keep at 1 is not the Storm Keep. The numbers in the evil area mark possible adventures. Except for number 9, the rest are ruins.

I went to the link mentioned in the 1800s floor plan Annual issue and got the entire pdf.

Below is one of the mansions, and the so far redo as an Inn. The green furniture has mold on them. The blue, I haven't decided what that is yet. The large room with the beds is the dorm room, i.e. the cheap ones at 2 copper pieces per night. The green moldy chairs to the right side are out on the veranda/porch area.

The Inn map is 250 feet by 300 feet.

This Inn saw better days, around 100 game years ago.

Added an improved Inn map. The narow stairs entrance for guests is for access control.

I thought about making color maps for the game sessions, the dungeons, but one of my players prefers otherwise. So that is why I'm doing the mono color maps... of course, the trees are in color so the other player will like that.

edit: the typo monster struck me again.

Thank you. In a number of ways, I'm still getting use to CC3/CC3Plus. Winter is not nice to me.

Here is the second floor from the original, and my map of changes. The beds are for adventurers with more money, and I haven't decided if the owners live in another building or one of the second floor rooms.

My map is 65% of 1200 pixels. 250 feet by 300 feet.

I hope I don't come across as grouchy or argumentative when I keep making maps the same way after I get advice. If so I apologize.

Don't worry Jim. While advice and comments are often helpful (and sometimes not), it is ultimately the mapper who knows how he want his maps. The given comments may not fit within that view. Advice can help you develop your ideas, but if it doesn't fit, it should always be ignored.

Jim, on the second floor, 'Balcony' is spelled with an 'e'. Is this an error, or is it the correct USA spelling?

What about an Inn in the main town of Ashburton on The Bleakness? I would be willing to do the village (perhaps my competition entry). And it would be great if you could persuade Monsen to add in the Character portraits as well.
I just love this inn, Jim.

I'm in the process of starting on Dragonsfoot.org forums, my play by post, game. The play by post forum I'll be using will be setup this coming weekend. The link to my Adventure Site is at the top of this thread. Thats where the maps and some info will be posted.

So if you want to play, you have to create a nomdeplume account on dragonsfoot.org before this coming Friday, Jan 12, 2018. Looking for 3 to 5 additional players.

Likely updating once per week, but might be twice a week.

My 1e ad&d documents site for character creation, etc.

Below is the basic starting info I posted to the Dragonsfoot forums.

    Character creation:

Just follow the links on this page.

    Character creation

The site navigation menus at the top of each page should be clear. If it is confusing, please let me know.

My suggestion is 1 or 2 clerics, a druid, 1 or two thieves, several fighters. Rangers are okay. The Shoghosh is untested, but okay for this game.

    Multi-class is good to.

Minstrel and Frester needs work, so please skip them for the time being.

The menus at site top will show you the areas. Bleak Town is where we will start.

Bleak's Forest is the direction of the adventure area.

    800 mile map of area

East side Blue Bay, 800 mile map

general area around Bleak Town, 110 mile map.

Bleak Town area, 110 mile map

    Bleak Town center

    Bleak Town center

    general adventure area, Bleak's Forest

Brendal's General store in Bleak Town. For items not listed, pm me.
    General store info and map

    George's Inn

Some pages on the sites have secondary menus. I felt this way the main menus would load faster and be less clutter than if I put all links in the main navigation menus. Its also easier on laptop users.
