I thought I would start work on a region of my Myirandios world, the island archipelago off the east coast of northern Merishora. It is roughly based on Ireland (Evain) and Britain (Logrid). The south-west is ruled by the Klemtan Hegemony, but around it are tribal 'nations' much like the Celts, with some Aiefa (Elvish) blood thrown in, especially in Evain. In addition, raiders from the north are pillaging the coastal regions, though not of the Klemtan province of Logrid (yet).
This area is to be the site of an adventure arc based on TSR's 'Night's Dark Terror', one of the best adventure modules for low level characters I have experienced. I will be playing with my wife, a D&D novice.

So first, the map of Merishora, showing where the Regional map is situated.

Now for the start of the regional map, showing political borders and altitude range. I intend to do this as a mixture of Jon Roberts and Mike Schley styles.

The landmass looks pretty cool. Where do they produce the Whiskey?

Looking quite good. Nice mapping job there.

Looking up and seeing this map is just a close up of a small section of a regional map, I do think your symbol scale is way to small here though (and detail level too high). Personally, I'd prefer to see this as a stand-alone map, one map level below a less detailed 'logrid an evain' regional map.

Well, 4 months have elapsed, and I have thought about it.
First I divided Myirandios into 1600km (1000 miles) squares, and am now in the process of mapping each one with Mike Schley style, and except for a few mountains, am using the fills for mountains, hills and forests, rather than symbols.
Only the important rivers, mountains and lakes and settlements are named, and no settlements beyond large towns/small cities.
For each square, I have introduced 4 buttons, showing biomes (climate), altitude, political borders, and text.

The first square is the Evain/Logrid one, also showing Fretani and Penhaligon.
This is almost finished, but I would like feedback, please. I appreciate that the text is too small to be read at the forum resolution, but will put up a link to a larger version when I am satisfied it is finished.
Below, are the climate, altitude and political maps, with text on in the climate and political ones.

I have also nearly finished the smaller map (400 km squares, or 250 miles square) of Evain, which does detail smaller towns, castles, monasteries, towers and stone circles. No villages or hamlets yet -they await a smaller map of 100 km (62 miles) square.
