    Hi,

I'm really new to the website and the software. I've watched tutorials online anout mapping but what I'd like to do is create floorplans. (its for a novel)

My problem is i'm not particularly well versed in how to make floorplans. (I'd also like to do multiple levels)

So does anyone know of any of any walkthroughs or videos that can help me get a grasp of things.

    Thanks
    Gemma

City Designer 3, an add-on, can do floor plans. I have heard of people doing floor plans without it, but it does help to have it.

Hi Gemma. Welcome to CC3 and the ProFantasy forum!

Honestly, I think the best add-on for floor plans is really Dungeon Designer 3. Don't let the "Dungeon" in the name fool you. It's used for inns and castles and shops and a host of other detailed maps.

Also, a number of issues of the Cartographer's Annual are dedicated to floor plan type stuff. One that you might fall in love with quickly (because most of us did) is the free Jon Roberts Dungeons issue, available in a bundle of free annual issues. Yes, you read that right, free. There are enhanced features if you have Dungeon Designer 3 but it works nicely with just CC3, too. Also, each annual (including the free issues) comes with a mapping guide to explain how to make maps using the contents of the annual.

If you purchase Dungeon Designer 3, it comes with a short Essentials guide (like the one that came with CC3+) that has a nice set of tutorials to famliarize you with making floor plans. Also, if you're interested, the Tome of Ultimate Mapping has a wealth of information, tutorials, and advice on all ProFantasy products, including CC3+ and DD3.

    Happy mapping!

Here's a video I made on how to use Dungeon Designer 3. This is the add-on I would be using to make floor plans.

As a matter of fact, I have created a couple of floor plans using DD3, so has Lorelei, and LoopySue. I made the floor plans for an Inn, that includes a basement 'dungeon', found here: http://forum.profantasy.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=6134&page=2#Item_17

It may not be as good as some of the others here, but it does show you what Dungeon Designer 3 can do :)

LadieStorm, your maps are excellent. Nothing medicore about your maps, nor Lorelei's and LoopySue to.
