Here is the start, still deciding on a number of things. Cutout of area I'm mapping, and start of the map itself.

Here is what I have... should I add more ? Fractalize the land ? Put a sea mount or shoals for fishing in the bay ?

  1.
Just me, yes, I would fractalize the land a bit. Also maybe do an edge fade, inner and a bit of a transparency on your sea? to soften it up a bit?

Effects also got put on the rest of the map... I don't see any on the text, which is what I prefer.

Should I add a bit more detail ? Or write it up and submit ?

How about using some terrain fills to detail the area a bit, break up the huge green flat. Maybe some small hills to indicate it isn't completely flat (unless it is)

I got one in there, in 3 locations. It is a flat area, so I added Scrublands_MS.

I'm about to submit the fcw and text. Here is the text.

South part and adjoining lands of Basher Bay, Fisher Island, of Forlorn Archipelago.

The Green Line is a line of green painted towers and castles keeping what ever is in Dead Forest away. Woe to any castle that removes the green paint ! They will be overwhelmed and all inside lost.

Dragon Rocks ? Does it refer to the rocky teeth of the rocks or actual dragon's teeth ?

The tree symbols represent an area of trees, not an actual tree count.

    Intense Inlet: rough waters

Tower of the old Wizard; a wizard or abandoned. No one is certain.

Dead Forest: ruins and a temple to the Demon God.

Stormy Point: looks calm, but rough and stormy water appears quickly.

A small henge is rumnored to be deep within the Dead Forest. Its age is unknown.

    Template: Overland Mike Schley

    Symbols used: Mike Schley overland, Profantasy\CC3Plus\Symbols\Maps\CC3\Vegetation.fsc, Structures.fsc, Mountains.fscm, coast.fsc

    Font is Baskerville Old Face

    Map is 25 x 13 miles.

The Ocean and Sea bit map fills are from the Mike Schley template.

    Shallow water bitmap fill: Sea_MS

Ocean Deep water bitmap fill: Ocean_MS

Brown bitmap fill under parts of the forests: Scrublands_MS. This is to show the soil is of poor quality.

The lighter green trees are vari-color and color 101 was used. The same color was used for the Green Line castles and towers.

Ah, The Silent Forest. Why is it called that ? The wizard that lives there doesn't like the little birdies chirping ! it ruins his concentration. He doesn't like large birds flying around looking for the smaller birds. Thats is why it is called Silent Forest. He hates insects even more.

A small cove at the end of the path leading to his tower. The cove looks small on this map, but its 199.4 feet long.

I want to add a small cemetary near the henge, but I haven't decided which one to use yet. Why a cemetary ? Well, there were henge devotees, now they are gone. Their chanting was loud, now there are none.

Yes some parts of the forest look too regular, he likes it like that. Makes it easier for his green skeleton guards to hide, and then they fire arrows and dash out at visitors who make noise.

Perhaps a few small streams and lakes? At this scale, you'll probably going to see relatively small rivers.

Any settlements or lairs? What is at Silent Cove - a hamlet, or landing for ships/boats? Looking forward to learning about the denizen of that tower!

Yeah, undecided where to put them for now. The inlet where the path from the tower goes is larger than I realized at first. Not much of a raised area on this part of the map. I may make a river from further away, or make a small lake with a spring near by and that may or may not flow to the ocean.

Wow. We ninja ed. Each other and I didn't even notice. I had thought of the Cove as just that. No habitation. But that large someone could enter and see it was being used. So maybe a broken haunted keep would be good there.

Here is the test. I'll be submitting the final fcw Friday or Saturday. So if anyone has changes in mind, please post. I tried putting Edge Fade, Inner and the ponds vanished.

    Silent Forest

These are from CC3 Overland symbol folder in CC3 Plus, with some exceptions.

Henge and Tower from CC3 Structures.fsc.

    Trees vari-color from CC3 vegetation.fsc.

Scrub area/trees from Mike Schley vegetation. The vari-color pine trees are color 100.

Rocky area near the henge: Rocky Land vari-color from CC3 Mountains.fsc

Fill under the forest is: Scrubland_MS from Mike Schley

    Land is Land_MS.

    Ocean is: Sea_MS.

Silent Cove: How the Old Wizard gets supplies. Marshy, sand banks, foggy at all times of the year. 221 feet long by 222 feet wide. Rather regular for an inlet...

Silent Forest: No animal nor bird sounds, the Wizard doesn't like noise.

Cren Henge: a small henge from thousands of years ago. Some dead dewcidious trees nearby.

The Crushed Keep: a broken keep. No debris, no broken rocks, no rusted weapons. All nice and clean. No signs it was ever inhabited.

A number of small ponds. Unknown depths. Anything falls in, the leaves close back up. No signs of anything nor anyone had come by there.

Okay, finished sooner than expected, gave me a pdf of files deleted, but they are still there...

Hopefully I don't have to do many Repairs on installs.

Only took 8 hours instead of the projected 12 hours... if nothing is wrong with anything.

Thanks for another great submission Jim.
The Silent Forest is now online in the atlas.

In other news, I've also added Duin Elisyr by Yort. I was waiting for a version with a minor fix to the scale bar, but the artist hasn't been online in the forums for the last two months, so I put up the version I had for now, since it was complete. I'll update it whenever I get the fixed version.

I'll also take this opportunity to encourage more people to submit to the atlas. We have 78 maps, but only 9 mappers. Remember, you don't need to be a mapping expert to participate, while a lot of the maps in the atlas looks absolutely stunning, this is not the bar every new user should hold themselves against.
As to the existing mappers, I've noticed that some of you like to continue developing your own maps. While nothing wrong with this at all, I'll also want to encourage you to look at the rest of the world. Remember, any area in the world not currently claimed by another user is free for the taking, no matter who made the original parent map.

You're welcome. My windows computer is still having problems. I may have to wait until next month and get a win 7 install did and use it on an older machine. My Win 10 computer is being a pain.

So I will try to make some more maps but not sure what will happen.
