Fill or symbols? Actually, either way, the delete function will get rid of them. You have to click on the edge of the item you want to delete with the little square selection box and then select DO IT. Unless the layer is frozen, if you can see them on the map you should be able to select and delete them. It might be easier to hide all other sheets to better isolate the item you want to get rid of and not accidentally select the wrong thing. Remember that the delete in CC3+ is not like in art programs -- it's not a brush function where you can go back and forth over an area to erase it, but a polygon select function where it takes the whole item out at once.
