hehheh this looks pretty cool. There must have been some really full on cataclysms or magical disasters to create some of those areas. Hope there is a good story to go along with the map!

    Yesir!

The world used to have only 2 continents, the primary continent split during its first Epoch (an era of lost history). During this same period, the land masses had become misshapen, however that crest at the top of the world was an intentional carving by a particularly powerful empire during the worlds second Epoch, at the end of which the empire was destroyed by its own actions and fell into chaos.

In section 6 with that massive set of successive calderas, known as the isle of Dtum (pronounced toom), the sea around it is a constant shifting sea of sand, it has the consistency of quicksand in most places, others a full sandbars, with some interspersed areas of silty sea water. This makes sea travel through the region rather difficult with specialized craft. This is caused by the near constant "hum" comming off of the caldera, this kicks up all the sand and silt from the sea floors relatively shallow sea region (most areas are less than 20' deep in that area and are littered with numerous ruins from a lost civilization of the first Epoch).

Many of the creatures in the region have also become specialized to deal with the silt sea as well, like large burrowing sand sharks and whales

I only claim credit for the map :P

when I do my KS (hopefully at the end of the year) Ill be commissioning my own artwork, these are just pics I admire that fit the general idea of what I am doing for that particular region :) (sometimes people need a picture to really understand, thats why I posted them ;) )

How did you make the beautiful map? It looks really realistic. Did you use fractial terrain to generate the continent and CC for the textures?

you get the texture on the map by having areas on the image climate like the bottom right

The world has 3 moons and 2 suns. Seasons are determined by the configuration of the two suns, one being a large red sun and the other being a small yellow dwarf, the orbit of the two in the sky is only slightly faster than that of the worlds rotation around them, making the seasons last for an entire year. While the small yellow sun is behind the larger red one, the world is in winter, while its in front, the world is in summer.
