Hi there,

I would like to know, if it is possible to create old people (wrinkles) and children with CA3, for example to create a portray of a family - or are the options limited to heroes and foes? I would still be interested in the product, but nevertheless would like to know. Thankyou!

There are no pre-set options for old people or children in CA3. You can draw over the portrait to create stuff like wrinkles, change the size of figures to create adolescents and so on. Search for "Portrait" or "Character" on this forum to find many interesting examples done with CA3.

Painting facial expression sounds pretty challenging to me - has anybody in this Forum tried to do that already?

@Profantasy: Wouldn't Character Add-ons for CA like old people and kids / youths / cloth styles etc be an idea for crowdfunding?

There are various ways to do this. Most children are smaller and thinner. There is a set scale for thin, but you can resize to whatever you want. You can adjust the head downward giving a more stooped appearance for older people. You can choose eyes that look more weary or have dark spots below the eyes. You can also add warts. Hair color and hair styles also helps in depicting age. Thin often works for older people as well. Walking sticks, staffs, and staves can be used to help depict age. As a new user to Character Artist I was really hoping I'd be able to properly represent all builds of people. Its very restricted though. I want to do fat, thin, old, young. The characters need to come to life and assist in driving the story and unfortunately they do pretty much all look very similar. Need something... less healthy... less heroic. Your average Joe Blow.

The only one on that list that you cannot do is fat. That said, I hope that they do have an annual update for character artist this year. There are still a few bugs and there are still some symbols where you cannot change colors and of course, we always want more options - Lol! ;-)

Just one note though; the symbols, bitmaps, and effects all come together to create a great product. But, don't forget about the their drawing tools. They are an essential part of the ProFantsy toolbox and are very useful.

Thanks Quenten! The quality of my characters vary over time with them getting better through practicing and experimenting. Even now, as I have gone back and looked at them, I notice all kinds of issues that need fixed. I have a lot on my plate right now but I may do some small tutorials later. :-)

@daplunk: Thanks a lot for that information, as I also would very much like to have a "fat - option" (innkeeper). I love the style though, and hope for the future, so I will give it a try, but it is always good when you get what you expected.

@CharlesWayneRobinson: May I ask if you ever tried to add facial expressions by yourself, enhance or add anything for example with Gimp or Inkscape?

I have not tried doing my own facial expressions yet. I have GIMP, but I am just learning it. So far, I mostly use to make backgrounds transparent. I am very new to it.
