Generating maps with external lists

I have just been asked a question that I have no idea about. Can I generate a random map using, say, Excel, and have it export as a list so that the mapmaking software can build it? I'd be wanting to import a text description of a random map, formatted according to the 'list' command, I assume.

AFAIK, no. Not easily anyway, unless you can make excel save in a format supported by CC3 (fcw, dwg, dxf, ...)
  • It is possible but not easy. Basically the random generator has to export a set of CC3 commands as a macro, then you run that macro in CC3. I did this to generate a night sky (easier problem than a random dungeon) in CC2 from TableSmith (a script-driven random results generator). It worked, but it was very fragile and I've never tried to port it to CC3.
