Strategies for a city map to be printed in black and white?

My village map will be published in black-and-white format. What settings should I adjust or strategies should I use to ensure the best possible appearance when rendered in black and white? Thanks!

    I don't know about settings, but I would think that shading and textures would be your best friend, if you are doing something in black and white :)

    Maybe you can start by selecting a style that is already in B&W? I think a B&W bitmap will always look better than a coloured one switched to B&W...

    One thing to keep in mind is that certain colors don't transition good into black and white and certain colors printed in black and white could blend together so they look like one color too so you want to make sure that any colors you are using are going to show up in black and white without any problems.

    A black and white stye might be your best option to go with.
