Exporting high res and keeping textures

I have been able to export high res images in my John speed city maps by zooming in and saving at jpg, png or bmp. City designer does the 14 passes thing and saves it all nice and big and I can then import in other programme. BUT often my nice textures likes cross hatching fills are lost and you just get a background colour. IE Brown cross hatch becomes plain brown fill.
Any idea how and how I can preserve the best resolution.
