Complete open beta of Vintyri Symbol Set 4 for CC3+ and CC3 Released

We've released the complete open beta of the Vintyri (TM) Symbol Set 4 for CC3+ and CC3. This free, open game content release now includes all eight catalogs of symbols of culinary structures and farm buildings. The earlier first open beta release included only the four catalogs of culinary structures.

This collection includes 251 Medieval Age type symbols of inns, an inn coach house, brewhouses for inns and taverns, larger breweries, distilleries, barns, house barns, hops farms, an herb drying house, pig pens, sheds, a sheep pen, a large sheep barn, sugar houses and a treadmill extension to add to barns. It also expands the general parts catalog from Vintyri Symbol s Set 2 with a tavern sign and tavern lanterns. The quick-and-dirty 10-minute map below gives you a small, not particularly professional sample of some of the agricultural symbols. A similar map of culinary symbols can be seen in the earlier posting at:

The symbols in this set are based upon real-world prototypes from the Middle Ages. The set includes a free 62-page, illustrated and bookmarked manual in PDF format which has full and illustrated installation instructions, photos of many of the historical prototype buildings upon which these symbols were based and information on how to map credible Middle Ages type tavern and inn complexes.

This is the first time that these symbols have been available in a CC3+- or CC3-version. They're being offered at present in an open beta test version. Alpha testing was completed on Saturday, November 15. The tests were done with both CC3+ and CC3 running under Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. More on the beta testing below.

As with the previous Vintyri Symbol Set releases, this new addition integrates completely into City Designer 3, using CD3's roof lighting, toolbar, street alignment, demographic building coloring, etc. HOWEVER, there are some prerequisites. The Vintyri Cartographic Collection is conceived as a unit. Each successive release builds upon the last, with the basic elements of the CD integration including master filters, catalogs, menus and elements of the CD3 integration built into the installation routine of the keystone set, Vintyri Symbol Set 2. That means that in addition to a running installation of CC3+ and/or CC3, you also need to have installed Vintyri Symbol Set 2 and Vintyri Symbol Set 3 for Symbol Set 4 to operate properly.

To help alleviate problems some users have downloading huge files, we've split the symbol downloads this time into four files.

PLEASE NOTE: If you downloaded the culinary symbols in the first partial beta release from November 3, you DO NOT NEED to download them again. You can simply download the last two ZIP files with symbols, vss4_1_symbols_03.zip and vss4_1_symbols_04.zip.

In all cases, if you are using both CC3+ and CC3, you need download the symbol files only once. They work with both versions.

With this release, a total of 668 Vintyri symbols now are available for CC3+ and CC3.

We're offering Vintyri Symbol Set 4 at this time as an open beta test release. Our target for closing the beta period is December 31. Downloading does not obligate you to make beta reports, but if you have problems or find errors, please let me know!
