Vintyri Symbol Set 4 for CC3+ & CC3: 1st Open Beta released

We've released a first open beta of the Vintyri (TM) Symbol Set 4 for CC3+ and CC3. This is a partial release. The Vintyri (TM) Symbol Set 4 includes four catalogs of symbols of culinary structures and another four catalogs of farm building symbols. This first beta release includes ONLY the four catalogs of culinary structures. The four catalogs of farm building symbols still are in production. They should go into beta release in December.

This initial beta collection includes 102 Medieval Age type symbols of inns, an inn coach house, brewhouses for inns and taverns and larger breweries and distilleries. The quick-and-dirty 10-minute map below gives you a small, not particularly professional sample of some of the symbols. All of the symbols in this set are based upon real-world prototypes from the Middle Ages.

There is no PDF manual for this symbol set at this time, but the downloaded ZIP files can be installed in the same manner as described in the manual for Vintyri Symbol Set 3. If you're uncertain whether this package is of interest, you can preview the complete content here:

This is the first time that these symbols have been available in a CC3+- or CC3-version. They're being offered at present in an open beta test version. Alpha testing was completed on Saturday, October 31. The tests were done with both CC3+ and CC3 running under Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. More on the beta testing below.

As with Vintyri Symbol Set 3, this new release integrates completely into City Designer 3, using CD3's roof shadowing, toolbar, street alignment, demographic building coloring, etc. HOWEVER, there are some prerequisites. The Vintyri Cartographic Collection is conceived as a unit. Each successive release builds upon the last, with the basic elements of the CD integration including master filters, catalogs, menus and elements of the CD3 integration built into the installation routine of the keystone set, Vintyri Symbol Set 2. That means that in addition to a running installation of CC3+ and/or CC3, you also need to have installed Vintyri Symbol Set 2 and Vintyri Symbol Set 3 for Symbol Set 4 to operate properly.

You need not worry about having to download the 1.1 GB ZIP of symbols again in the future when beta testing has ended. It contains only the PNG symbol files. In the unlikely event that any symbols are changed, we will provide beta users with a patch to replace only the changed files. You need download the main files for CC3+ and/or CC3 if you are using both programs. However, if you are using both CC3+ and CC3, you need download the symbol files only once. They work with both versions.

With this release, a total of 539 Vintyri symbols now are available for CC3+ and CC3.

We're offering Vintyri Symbol Set 4 at this time as an open beta test release. Our target for closing the beta period will be set only after beta versions of all eight catalogs are available. Downloading does not obligate you to make beta reports, but if you have problems or find errors, please let me know!
