Missing buttons in Win 8.1

I installed CC3 & SS3 yesterday and noticed that I'm missing buttons on the Left Toolbar (see top image below).
It's not anywhere else, by the way, and when I repaired the install this morning I caught the error message I missed yesterday (see bottom image below). I've not got this problem with SS4. I can access the bits that are missing via the menu bar but it's quicker to R-click.
I'm extremely reluctant to uninstall the software as experience has taught me that I can't reinstall it if I do.
Help or advice would be welcomed.
