More tutorials Needed
CC3/DD3 seems dauntingly complex and my hopes of creating the quality of maps I see on the profantasy site are diminishing. But this is because I am a noobie. I will not give up. Each time I try a map, I learn a little more. But I learn slowly and my time is limited.
So, where are all the user created, not to mention profantasy created, tutorials? I like the Sweeney tutorials and would not have bought the product without them. As I look around, I see little to no more help on creating maps. There are tons of people showing off great maps. Many of these I would like to emulate but very few of these are FCWs that I can download and try to reverse engineer.
As an example of my problem, I would love to be able to make a map like below, especially the exposed caves. This map is used as an advertisement for the Fantasy Floorplans Symbol set 2. I want to buy this package very badly because I think that it will magically allow me to make this map. I realize that my lack of skill will prevent this from being true.
So why am I ranting? Does anyone have tips or a sample FCW that will help me make caves like below?

My suggestion is this, subscribe to the Annuals
http://sub.profantasy.com/2007/
http://sub.profantasy.com/2008/
They cost a little bit of money, but seriously for the yearly fee of Price $39.95 / £21.95 for 12 great issues, its more than worth it, you get tutorials, new symbols, new styles, new fills and the maps themselves.
I have a simple png symbol creation tutorial as well at

And a bunch of symbols

I am sure others will add to the list

I'm in the process of moving to a Movable Type blog site, so while the basic url will stay the same, MT uses static pages rather than links to the database for pages. I'll post under cartographic resources when I get done with the new url. Only 1,375 link changes to go...
I have looked at the annuals tables of content but I don't think they are worth the price to me. For 2008, I'm only interested in 3 of the months. I understand the desire by profantasy to satisfy a wide range of needs and make some money in the process, but the buy it all or nothing model is an unfriendly one. Five dollars per month ala cart is more reasonable to me.
I appreciate the tutorial suggestions but they are not what I'm looking for. I'm primarily concerned with dungeon/cave type maps via DD3.
More to the point of what I'm wanting, does anyone know if the Symbols Set 2 comes with the sample map (see first post) and perhaps a mapping guide?

I applaud the new video tutorials now on the site.
Support says that Symbols Set 2 doesn't come with the map I have referred to above. In fact it's not available at all for some undisclosed reason.
I was able to get close to the effect I wanted (see below). I used a rock like fill for the walls that I made parts of transparent to achieve the broken edge effect. If you want more details, just post.
