Adding a city onto an overland map

I've got a large map of a continent, the units of which are miles. I recently installed City Designer and wanted to zoom in on my continent and use City Designer to add a city. I pulled up the settings for Random Street and all of the units seem to be in feet. So I divided all of the settings by 5280. I go into the house settings and set them in the way, then the street settings and do likewise. When I return to the Street Options screen, the program locks up and crashes. Any have success adding a city to an overland map?

Raorgen, what you'll want to do is create a separate map using a city designer template. Drop a city symbol on your overland map and put a hyperlink on your overland map to open the city map.

As Tommy says, that would be the way to go. Putting a whole city into an overland map is not gonna work properly.

Is it possible to make each grid square on a continent level map link to a more detailed map?

instead of dropping a city marker. So it is more like an image map?

Of course it is. Just add your grid, enable the Snap button on the bottom of the screen, and then add the hyperlink to the hight detail map to the square in question.
