WIP - Lair Challenge Map

Once again I've decided to have a go at doing the Map competition.

I've been having a play with DD3 and have created a 300 foot square Lair map with a Labyrinth surrounding the Lair of a horde of undead and their undead Necromancer master.

I was wondering if you guys could share some opinions and also some hints of ways to improve the look and feel of the dungeon sheet effects.

Edited the post to include a smaller version of the map so that you didn't need to click an external link.

I'd still love some feedback, my current thoughts are about adding more variety in the walls and floor fills.

I would leave the walls alone, they are fine as they are.
The floor could use a bit of work, maybe a few bloodstains from past adventurers that didn't make it?
A few rocks also might work, depending on how old the dungeon is.

All in all I like the dungeon/labyrinth.

I like it!

But, to be more specific, I like cavern/dungeon combination. I'm happy to see you cracked the cavern maze issue you were having. I also really like the different textures/colors you used for inside the dungeon. It gives it a "sectional," purposeful feeling. The directional wall shadows help to give it more depth, too. The whole thing has a classic, early role-play feel too it. I'm eager to see how you decorate.

Still haven't finished up inside the lair itself, but have been working on the border/outskirts. Do you think I've over done it?

I especially like the scale bar. But, yeah, I'd recommend another font.

I've done the bottom left and middle now. I decided to make the lower left in to an old living area that's been over-run by large spiders.

Ok, so my map is potentially finished. The only question is whether or not to add any treasure or debris to the three room mazes which are mostly empty except traps. I left them clearer to have some parts that were less full of stuff, but am open to your opinions on whether that's a mistake or not.

Pretty dark now... Or are you planning some fog of war?

I'm just trying to show a difference between illuminated areas and dark areas. Previously the area where there were no light sources looked a bit too light. I've recreated my set of darkening shapes to give me a 25% darken rather than a 50%, and made a few different sizes in order to get a bit more specific is where I darken things. Think it'll look a little better now.

Other than sorting out the darkness, is there anything that you'd suggest needs doing in the maze?

Wow! I totally want to adventure through that! Looks great and, like I said before, it has an overwhelming old-school feel to it. Looks fantastic! Good luck in the competition.
