  • Short answer: never.

    And I'm a Mac user!

  • Well this is the only software I have left that requires Windows. I have to keep a Vista partition on my MacBook Pro just to run it.. *sigh* ... Please Please Please make a Mac version of your stuff!
  • As I understand it, Profantasy doesn't have the resources to devote to creating a Mac version of CC3. The program that it is based on (FastCAD) does not have a Mac version so the programmers would have to start from scratch (putting aside any legal issues regarding FastCAD). If FastCAD included a Mac version, I am pretty sure that Profantasy would have eventually created a Mac version if it would generate enough revenue to make it worth the effort. Remember this is a company we are talking about and a company exists to make a profit.
  • Also Profantasy is a small company.

  • CC3 does run pretty well through Crossover. However, FT Pro, the Symbol Sets, and presumably other addons don't seem to install correctly. I have CC3 on my MacBook Pro for playing around, but I still reboot to Windows for serious work. I guess if you're just using CC3, you can try out Wine and run it that way.

The next version (which isn't for a very long time) is likely to be multi-platform.
  • Simon, if you're tired of hearing the, "When will CD3 be ready?" questions, I think you're really going to be weary of the, "When will the multiplatform version be ready?" questions that are going to start immediately after CD3's release. I would have thought you already learned this lesson. :-)

Works great using VMWare and a disk image. It actually runs better under VMWare then when I had it on a PC.

Oooooooo, I can make cool Movie-type quotes that make this a confirmed definite ;)

  • CC3 and MSE are the only programs that are currently keeping me tied to Windows, but given that I have a MacBook and Parallels, this isn't a deal breaker (though it has made me think from time to time about Dundjinni, which does have a Mac version).

However, I know that MSE is looking to create a Mac build and if ProFantasy has plans for one too, then I can start to anticipate the day when I'll be able to say goodbye to Windows forever.

It may take a while, but I can be patient.
  • I too have windows running on my Mac just for CC3. I use Parallels and it works great -I definitely recommend it for any of you with Macs out there. Would still prefer a native version though, especially with a more mac-like interface. And just think what kind of cool effects could be done using the macs CORE graphics and effects....
