Just a quick battlemap for a side treck in the adventure featuring the Chatelet.

I shamelessly stole the idea from Richard T. Balsley. Hope you don't mind, Richard...

And many many thanks to Dogtag for this. Posting links is now sooo easy!

Very nice, the flames look like they are flowing down from the center

    Very fiery indeed! Excellent.

Yeah, this is very cool - I particularly like the scorched body

    Thanks.

I'm rather proud of this one. It was however the easiest symbol to get as I just edited the official DD3 skeleton with The Gimp.

I love the lava effects, especially the flows from the center as they spill off the sides. But what REALLY wows me is the gorgeous "heated stone" textures beneath the lava falls. That looks just beautiful. Is that a standard texture?

Also, where'd you get the magic circle/runes that surround the center? Is that standard? Did you do anything in particular to give it the neat texture?

Gorgeous work. Even your "throw-away" side-adventure maps are awesome.

    Cheers,

I just noticed the circle by the broken pillar. I presume that's a bowl that held lava/flame atop the pillar before it fell? That's simply awesome attention to detail. *is humbled*

Hi Dogtag, glad you like it :))

The "heated stone" texture is homemade, using CC3 to get the channel pattern seamless. Alas, the whole thing is not seamless. I must work on the additionnal effects... At first, I wanted to create a whole tower encased in lava but with cooler inner walls (see below) but time was short (we play tomorrow) so I opted for the shrine.

The magic circle is also homemade. In fact there is a star inside, but it suited me well like this.

    Absolutely right ;)

Cool! Er, I mean, hot! :-)

As neat as the aborted tower map looks, I think I like the shrine better, personally.

Great job on the custom textures and symbols. It all looks awesome.

Well, I can agree with that but
    a) The tower was aborted
    b) It was also a -positive- experiment . Look carefully : the walls have a bevel effect inside, but a fade outside...

I attached the magic circle symbol if anyone's interested...

Nope, don't mind at all! :) Looks a lot better than I've been able to manage with my meager skills. I'm better at writing than mapping. People like the content of my books more than they do the maps. LOL

    Really like these maps.
