New, and need help.

I'm new to both CC3 and this forum, so please be gentle with me.
I'm looking for answers to a very simple question:

Is there a simple way to give my maps an aged "feel" to them?
All the bright colours in the color palette shout "new" when they are printed or employed in a game.
What I'm looking for is a way to make my maps appear as if they were drawn in say, the 18th century, or maybe drawn on old paper or parchment.

I've seen a super effect used by Tyler Provick to produce the map below,
and was wondering if anyone knew how this kind of thing could be achieved?

  • if I get what your after you want them to look 'faded?' right.. the easiest way I know of doing it is surprisingly explained in ralf's latest annual lol.. but anyway what you want to do is add a RGB matrix to the layers and play with the ones in there.. you can 'lighten' the map with it.

The other thing is to add a blur to the eges etc.. it simulates a running of the ink over time, you can also use this to simulate splotch marks etc.

The 2007 annual had a really great one on making things look old / parchment style.. just FYI.
