Treasure map for an upcoming adventure.
There will be a small dungeon once the players find the X-spot.

The directions are not really working without a hint where to orientate.

    @Tommek.

Yes youre absolutely right. Lets hope my players have the same problem :-)

The map was drawn by Hardur himself.
Of couse he knew where to start and what direction to face.
In fact, without that information the X spot will be pretty hard to find.
Just like I want it to be.

Ah ok. I think it is pretty impossible to find, except he has buried it with different coloured sand/stones. How big is a hole for treasure? How BIIIIG is a hill? Maybe you should let them find something like a single coin. Even then the would need weeks to dig up that area.

One of the people in Torsk is an old sailor who used to sail with Hardur.
With the right encouragement (booze) he will tell them great stories about his glory days with Hardur.
Also that Hardur sometimes disappeared for days. Wandering into the hills.
He might even tell them which way Dead mans hill is. Allthough he will also tell them is a place to stay away from.
Its a place where the dead walk, or so the stories go. But who really believes an old drunk?

    And the treasure room.

Now have to cut out the battlemaps and glue them to cardboard.
Print the treasure map on a piece of paper the has been soaked in tea.
    Then let the adventure begin.

There are a multitude of maps out there that many would consider works of art. Then the odd one comes along that stirs within me the desire for adventure. Makes me examine it closely and ask questions like: What might we find at that location marked by the hut on the northern island? What sort of personalities reside at Hardur's Rest or what might we find lurking in the swamp or the trees by the river? This is one such map. Very nice! I like this.

Hang on... Hardur's body is in area 1 and his bones are in area 2?! What the heck happened to him? Or, do I really want to know? Ewww.

Great stuff! I especially like the water around the island on the treasure map. Did you make the overland map using the treasure map style from the annual?

    Thanks for sharing!

I think that apart from the font, and obviously the dungeon part, all the elements are from the Treasure Map annual.

Sweet! I really need to play with the annuals more. Then again, I really need to play with CC3 more!

Again, nice maps. I like that the "dungeon" is small and functional.

Were the cliff edges on the south west sides of the landmass photoshopped in afterwards? Very cool map.

It's called "Terrain Default, Cliffs" and should pop-up if you click the Terrain drawing tools button.

His cliffs look like jagged rocks because of the lines going up and down. Mine are just filled completely with black. I screwed around with settings on it for an hour last night but just could not get anything to look like his. Either the fill was solid black or the few lines that I had were just a few and very thin verticals transparent lines. Not jaggity like his. not sure how to adjust the settings I guess.

This is just a shot in the dark, but how does it look without the effects turned on? I see a Blur effect for the sheet. I doubt that's the problem but it's the first thing that came to mind.

I wonder if this is a scale issue. The CA58 mapping guide says :-

"This style is set up for local-area
    maps, especially its sheet effects.
    CC3's default size of 1000x800
miles is too large for that, so I
    recommend reducing the map size
to something like 25x20 miles or
    something similar."

Is that the size we're looking at here?

Yes, I think that's what happening here. Hatch styles (that's what the cliff fill is) don't scale with the map size and the cliffs are set up for a much smaller map size.

If you want to use the hatch with a larger map, you'll need to rescale it. You'll find it in CC3/Hatch Styles/. Make a copy, open it in CC3 and rescale everything for your new map size. E.g. for a 1000x800 map, you could scale the existing hatch style by factor 40.

    Questions answered here:

Sheets effects off - no difference
Map size - 1000x800 so I will reduce
Rescale? I have no idea how to do that. I just keep getting in over my head LOL

You just use the scale button and right-click -> All -> right-click Do It.
Just be sure all sheets and layers are visible and thawed.
