Ferryhill

This is Ferryhill. A small town divided by a large river. The town is built around the ferry that transports people back and forth. The main town is situated on the eastern shore where you also find the local citadel. A perfect place for some adventures :-)

The map is made in CD3 and finished in Photoshop.

Thanks Old Guy, I'm glad you like it. The corner artwork are actually from a Photoshop brush I downloaded on the net. Unfortunately I don't remember from where.

That, is awesome! Is the texturing on the water from CD3, or did you add that in photoshop? I'm thinking about getting CD3 (or might be getting it for Christmas)!

RunningWolf - The water texture is made in photoshop with a filter called pixelbender. I've made a tutorial in this thread http://forum.profantasy.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=2405&page=1#Item_16 on how you make you map look more painted. Which gives you the water effect.

Again a wonderful map. I like the font used for the title a lot. Which is it?

Looks like I do need to upgrade to CS5 at some point.

Thanks for the comment Ralf, and the pixelbender plugin for Photoshop is also available for CS4 if you have that version.
The font I used is called Deutsche Zierschrift and is available here http://www.dafont.com/font-comment.php?file=deutsche_zierschrif. It seems to be free to use, but no one seems to know for sure

This is a sweet map. It's got a really nice - but very subtle "Tim Burton" taste to it. I would have put a bridge in there somewhere, but actually not having one is interesting to.
I love this map!

I decided to try to make a night version of the map. Could be a great way to get the right mood if you would use it in a role playing session. Imagine the characters returning to the village by night to break in to the temple or observatory to steel an artifact. Change the map to this one that displays the town at night and the atmosphere in the session will be much greater

Actually, you can add as many you wish, but you need to add one first, then go back and edit your post which will let you add another file, and so on. But triple posts is not a problem.

Thanks for the no-Photoshop effects map (though I think it was Simon who originally requested that). A good bit of moving to the work to CC3 could be done by applying the the filter to the png texture files in CD3 and saving them as a new set. Might be a nice way to create a new set of bitmap fills.

And the night map is a nice idea! I love the atmosphere it transports.
