Controlling Size of Image Posted

Every time I have posted an image it's been freaking huge. Much larger than I intended or expected. Is there anyway to scale images within the boards or do I need to reduce the image size before uploading?

You should scale the image properly before uploading.

Technically, you can use html tags to change the display size of the image in your post, but that doesn't reduce the file size of the actual image, which means people still need to load that huge image even if you are displaying it as a small one, so it is best to resize it before uploading.
  • Is there a way to use html <img /> tags with attachments or do I have to use BBCode? That would let me use style="max-width: 100%;" as an attribute to keep the image in bounds.
  • I use Irfanview to resize images before uploading.

I load the png file in irfanview, resize to 900 pixels wide and save it with one letter added to the filename.

So its filename.png saved to filenameb.png. The second file is what I upload.

I think the files are added to the forum, not attachments. But I don't know this forum software.

Yes. But you need the URL of the attachment, which you can easily find after posting by right clicking the image and select view image info (or your browser equivalent)
